If we're talking about pairings, this drama is TOTALLY giving us pairings, ohmygoodness. Not only am I into the Nitta/Shuntarou (their RIVALRY! their BANTER! their IRRITATION!), but Asuka and Shuntarou pretend to be ~newlyweds~! And they argue about her dog! I am all over that. ALL OVER.

I'm really impressed with the lighting (most of the time) in this drama. Clearly the crew knows what it's doing to make things dramatic and still pretty at the same time. The colors are also gorgeous (which translates to great icons, when I make my next batch!) I took so many screenshots. So many!

And I am so proud of Asuka for elbowing Shuntarou in the gut when he made a comment about her boobs. I do sort of wish that Shuntarou weren't such a cocky bastard about women, I admit. At least Asuka shoots him down for it as often as she can. Eyerolling: completely appropriate.

The friendship that formed between Nitta and research-dude was super cute, too. I quite liked him as a character! We got to know him a lot more than we did the target in the last episode. And we still had an action/fight scene, woohoo. And what's this?? Someone beat Nitta?! I found it a little hard to believe that he wouldn't have a slick maneuver for a jacket over the head, or some way to drop and roll, or, you know, SOMETHING, but I guess when you are an ~awesome fighter, they have to give you some sort of weird handicap when they need him beaten, haha.

Also can I just say: Eita's adam's apple is really hot. That neck, wow.

The pairings are great, but I think it's because the cast seems to have really good energy. I'm shipping everybody with everybody already.

I'm really liking the female characters, even if they haven't had much focus yet.

And it looks pretty and not cheap, which surprises me.

Even if the dorama ends up on the procedural side, I think it can work if the targets keep working as well as this one did.

I do kind of hope there's an underlying thread that starts to make itself known, so it's not just a new case each episode. But that last shot with the lady boss, when her father was mentioned, speaks of things to come!

You're totally right about the chemistry. It's so important in any drama, and these guys got it right.

I think Asuka could definitely use some more background, though...

I suspect that they're going with a Case of the Week that Shines light on a Random Team Member + Dad's Case as the Thread structure. I hope Asuka is the next character to be spotlighted, even if I think Shuntaro and Nitta's relationship will probably be quite central to the drama.

Yeah, specially since we have to buy that these people have been working together for a long time.

You very well might be right. Though I'd like to see a little more background on Shuntarou, too. I'm sure we'll get some eventually, though.

I do wish they'd let that other one girl have more screen time, though. It's kind of... obviously unbalanced into showing the primary actors as more important.

Random Girl at the Computer? I know, I can't even remember her name.

Yes her. She looks like an interesting character! Sulky, nerdy, and maybe she even reads fanfiction! What do you want to bet she's writing her own about Shuntarou and Nitta? Mwahaha.

It's entirely likely she'll suddenly have an episode dedicated to "expanding her character" and then an episode later disappear back into the woodwork...

I noticed the lighting too. And then there is the camera work for the fight scene in episode 1. I think having a movie director for this series (apparently this does not usually happen) is can be factor for these changes.

Yes to Asuka elbowing Shuntarou for the inappropriate comment and to the eyeroll.

I always look forward to the Nitta/Shuntarou banter every episode (the stares and the facial expressions).
